Theres a lot to be excited about in this weeks slate of new Rolling Stone reviews. Rosetta Stone Andy Greene gave Pearl Jams latest live album Live on Ten Legs a rave review, proclaiming that all 18 tracks on the record, including huge hits such as "Jeremy" and "Alive", sound better than their studio counterparts.Meanwhile, Jody Rosen praised Iron and Wines major label debut Kiss Each Other Clean for its "crystalline clarity," Jon Dolan admired the "early-Eighties smoothness" of Destroyers new record Kaputt and David Fricke hailed the deluxe Hear Me Howling! anthology of blues and folk ballad. "He was obscene, no question about it," said Colliers wife before he came to the phone. "You could say he was trying to incite a riot and not get much argument from me. He was saying Lets have a good time, lets have a revolution, everybody come up onstage."Then Collier himself described how the capacity crowd of 10,000 (whod paid $6 and $7) had gotten worked up to a very excitable pitch by Morrisons "hypnotic but musically very mediocre" performance. The band had played for about an hour, with Morrison singing bits of this, then that, the audience shouting for "Light My Fire," Morrison ignoring that request, exhorting them increasingly with each new song.
