Alfa Romeo held an international competition to find a name for the car and Furiosa (the Italian word for furious) was chosen. However, the company reserved the right to use another name and "Junior" is the hot tip. It will be unveiled in Europe late this year before going on sale in Australia in early . We might get a sneak preview of the Junior at the Sydney motor show in October but otherwise it's a quiet year for Alfa Romeo.AUDIThe new, fourth-generation A4 mid-sized sedan arrives in April. The BMW 3 Series rival initially will be available with a choice of four engines: a 1.8-litre turbo and 3.2-litre V6 and two diesels (2.0-litre and 2.7-litre). In July, Audi will release its most affordable convertible, the A3 Cabriolet. The small drop-top should start at less than $60,000 and ignores the trend of folding metal roofs for conventional fabric. Buyers will be able to choose between a semi-automatic roof and a fully automatic version. Both hydraulically operated soft-tops can be raised or lowered in nine seconds (quick for a drop-top) at the touch of a button, although the semi-auto roof requires a handle to be released. There will be a choice of 1.8- or 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines. Advertisement: Story continues below Audi's high-performance large sedan, the RS6, is due in July. For the latest model, the RS6 swaps a twin-turbo, 4.2-litre V8 for a twin-turbo, 5.2-litre V10. Power jumps a mighty 95kW to 426kW, pushing the Audi past the rival BMW M5 ( 3kW) and Mercedes E63 AMG ( 8kW). Audi claims the RS6 wagon (a sedan will follow) Rosetta Stone Hindi completes the 0-100kmh sprint in 4.6 seconds, beating the BMW M5 and matching the Mercedes E63 AMG. Expect a price tag higher than the $225,000 of the previous RS6 wagon. Although not yet confirmed by Audi, a more powerful version of the TT is expected in the second half of this year. The TT-S is rumoured to feature a version of the S3's turbocharged four-cylinder, with about 195kW of power. A 2.0-litre diesel and VW-Audi's new 1.8-litre turbo are also expected for more affordable versions of the TT. A 5.0-litre Vwill also be squeezed into Audi's R8 supercar, which is currently powered by the 3kW V8 from the company's RS4 sedan and wagon. Audi will also expand its A5 coupe line-up this year with two new engines (a 1.8-litre turbo in May from about $70,000 and a 3.0-litre turbo diesel in August from about $100,000). The sporty S5, powered by a 4.2-litre V8 and currently available only with a manual gearbox, will be offered with a automatic transmission from May ($134,900). BMWBMW will add a new twin-turbo diesel to the X5 four-wheel-drive's engine line-up this month. The X5 3.0sd will have 0kW of power and 565Nm of torque. BMW claims the new engine propels the X5 from 0-100kmh in 7.2 seconds with a relatively low fuel consumption figure of 8.9 litres100km. The 3.0sd will be more expensive than the single-turbo diesel X5, which starts from $86,800. The sleek sibling to the X5, the X6, is due in October. Despite a roofline that slopes dramatically towards the rear, the X6 is a five-door vehicle - although it will fit only four occupants. The X6's role as a more sporting version of the X5 will be backed by a range of engines slightly more powerful than those available in the X5. A hybrid drivetrain is also due in the near future.
